Winter?

The Solstice was wet but exceptionally warm and for this moment, sunny. We know what is coming but it was nice to be reminded of what we will see on the other side of winter.

Tis the Season

We used to go to the tree farm and cut a tree.
This was closer.
You can't tell that it feels like 20 below from that smile!

I wish I felt more like this.
I do when I look at this.
Take a deep breath. It goes by so fast.

Weekend

This is always very popular at our house (and is almost gone now). It is from this Stonyfield recipe. You won't see chocolate chips in the list of ingredients but we have two teenage girls. Chocolate chips go on just about everything!

Listened to this amazing musician on an NPR interview this morning while I spun (spinned? rode the stationary bike!).

And saw this amazing house on my walk today.  A little Christmas spirit!

What I'm Working On...

And finishing... these were due a year ago....
These handwarmers are from the Purlbee blog here and I used this beautiful Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Cherry and Cloak from here. With the temperature dropping, the girls can really use these.

At Least It Waited

At least the snow waited until November. Not for all the leaves to be blown out but at least until November!

A Little Diversion

Just finished this book and I really enjoyed it.  What a wild ride of a life from a family kitchen of inspiration to her own restaurant kitchen which sounds like boot camp every day. My kitchen is the most used room of the house and I hope it is warm and inspiring and that my kids, when they think about it, have delicious and satisfying memories of it. But my understanding and respect for food is nowhere near the level of Gabrielle's. I appreciate her talent and wish I could walk into the grocery store and formulate a menu after a quick browse. And yet another plug for a trip to Italy! I admit I watch "Eat, Pray, Love" for the Italian chapter. I love the scene where Julia assuredly orders course after course in Italian for her impressed friends. Okay, I would really like to go to Bali too.

Perhaps a trip to New York and a meal at Prune!
